Slurry Pump Rubber Wet Parts
Jan 16, 2024
Tobee® Rubber-Lined slurry pumps are find in the corrosives slurry processing applications. When it comes to selecting wet parts for pumps in applications where natural rubber or synthetic elastomers are required, it is important to consider the compatibility of the material with the pumped fluid, as well as its resistance to wear, abrasion, and chemical attack. Here are some commonly used materials for wet parts in pumps:

Natural Rubber : Natural rubber is a common choice for wet parts in pumps handling abrasive slurries or fluids with mild chemical compositions. It offers good abrasion resistance and flexibility, making it suitable for applications where some level of chemical resistance is required. However, natural rubber may not be suitable for highly acidic or alkaline environments.

Nitrile Rubber : Nitrile rubber is a synthetic elastomer known for its excellent resistance to oil, fuel, and hydrocarbon-based fluids. It also offers good abrasion resistance and is commonly used in pumps handling petroleum products, fuels, and certain chemicals. Nitrile rubber may not be suitable for applications involving strong acids, solvents, or ozone exposure.

Neoprene : Neoprene is a synthetic rubber with good resistance to oil, weathering, and ozone. It provides moderate resistance to a wide range of chemicals and is often used in applications where resistance to petroleum-based fluids, moderate abrasion, and weathering is required. Neoprene may not be suitable for applications involving strong oxidizing agents or certain solvents.

Hypalon : Hypalon is a synthetic elastomer known for its excellent resistance to chemicals, heat, and weathering. It offers good resistance to oxidizing agents, acids, and alkalis, making it suitable for applications in corrosive environments. Hypalon is often used in pumps handling strong acids, bleach, and other aggressive chemicals.

Butyl Rubber : Butyl rubber offers excellent resistance to gases, water, steam, and chemicals. It is commonly used in pumps for handling corrosive fluids, including strong acids, alkalis, and oxidizing agents. Butyl rubber exhibits low gas permeability and is suitable for applications where resistance to moisture and vapor is essential.
